January 1, 2004: The 4th annual Peddlers Grove gathering will once again be held this year in September, dates to be announced soon. Updated today were the Photo and Links pages. More updates to follow soon ...March 8, 2003: Peddlers Grove 2003 will be held the weekend of September 13/14! July 27, 2002: "A Guide to Interpreting at Peddlers Grove Prairie Settlement" has been added to the website! January 19, 2002: The Peddler's Grove 1850's prairie settlement will be open to the public on September 14-15, 2002, held at Farmamerica near Waseca, Minnesota. We are going to put the fun back into Rendezvous! So, why not a normal rendezvous? Peddler's Grove is a site ready made for a tent settlement of the pre Civil War era on the Minnesota Prairie. There are several wood and sod buildings on site and a lot of room for us. This event, and our participation, will be heavily advertised. We are looking for people who have a love of history. A story to tell, a skill from the Old World to share, and can inter-act with the public in their own words and actions. We want people who make history come alive with out having to be told when and where to "act" (add-lib is much more fun) and most of all; will have fun doing it! We have all seen what some camps have become, and what fun they used to be. Farmamerica will have water put in. Showers within a short walk. Yeah, the little green buildings too! We are supplying wood, hawk blocks, targets for both the gun and bow range. All prizes for games. So we need a Camp donation of $15.00 for Thursday thru Tuesday. NO ONE IS BEING PAYED TO SET UP! You may put out a poor mans cup if you are demonstrating. A Traders fee has not been established yet, but it will not be excessive. There is also a draft horse and horse field day that Saturday and Sunday in the 1930’s town, just down the trail from us. Between 3,000-4,000 public generally attend Farmamerica on this weekend! Weather permitting; we should surpass the normal gate. Last year people came back up the trail to experience our camp once more. We hope to have enough demonstrators so that everyone will have a chance to take a break and visit the other time-line demonstrations on this 120-acre site. As of yet no "school days" are planned, but could be added by encampment time. PET'S: Because of on site farm animals, you WILL need to have a copy of a Vets proof of shots. Whatever the type of pet, it must stay under control and be leashed. We are looking to have 35 - 40 camps with room to expand next year. Remember this is an Invitational pre-registered camp only! Please visit our Volunteer page for more details and a downloadable application form. We can also send more info to you upon request. More news will follow in the upcoming months, so check back here often. We will be setting the date and sending out flyers soon, and the event is being scheduled during mid-September this year. Please note that this redezvous is by invitation only. However, we are looking for persons to join us in our camp who have skills they are willing to demonstrate for the public. Open hours to the public are 11AM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday only, otherwise we have the camp to ourselves. If you are interested in attending, please see our Volunteer page for details and an application form, or send us e-mail with your questions to peddlersgrove@yahoo.com Click on our Events link for details on other Upper Midwest Redezvous to be held during the year 2002. |
